  • New venture for mccaw - Royalty Free, non-PRS, non-PPL music

Over the years mccaw has produced many tracks that can be classed under the movement-to-music category. E.g. for pilates, yoga and dance exercise classes. That means there is a lot of stuff on the shelf. Coincidentally, many independent personal trainers have been complaining that the changes to the PRS/PPL licensing schem in the UK are putting their costs up. Small venues and small classes are no longer cost-effective.

Well we like to help out where we can so mccaw is starting to make some of its back-catalog available for download. These tracks are royalty-free and not registered with either PRS or PPL so you will not need a PPL or PRS license to play them in public venues or to use them in your recorded video or audio projects. You will need a mccaw license which is included in the download and the download cost.

Initially the downloads can be purchased via a shop on selz.com, and some tracks will be free. Check it out here.

  • Inheritance

London UK hosts an annual competition to make a science-fiction film in 48 hours (see here). This year Martin Carman was invited to join a team as composer : "It was a great experience! Due to the short time-scale a lot of activity happened in parallel so I was writing music for scenes that had not yet been scripted. Obviously it took a great deal of work for the director to pull all parallels back into line."

The film got good reviews but not good enough to make the finals.

Inheritance has been re-cut to a much longer and more satisfying 7 minute version and in this form has been entered for several film festivals.
